laktationsområdet
Laktationsområdet refers to the anatomical region of the breast involved in milk production and release. This area encompasses the mammary glands, which are composed of lobules containing milk-producing cells called alveoli. These alveoli are organized into clusters known as lobes. The milk produced in the alveoli travels through a network of ducts that eventually converge at the nipple. The nipple, along with the areola (the pigmented skin surrounding it), serves as the outlet for milk during breastfeeding. Surrounding supportive tissues, including connective tissue and fat, also contribute to the overall structure and volume of the breast. The development and function of the laktationsområdet are primarily regulated by hormones, particularly prolactin, which stimulates milk production, and oxytocin, which triggers milk ejection. This specialized area is crucial for lactation, enabling the nourishment of offspring.
