Káliumjjodát, also known as potassium iodate, is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula KIO3. It is a white crystalline solid that is soluble in water. Potassium iodate is a strong oxidizing agent.

It can be prepared by the reaction of iodine with potassium hydroxide solution, or by the electrolysis of potassium iodide solution. Potassium iodate is used in a variety of applications, including as a food additive (E number E250), where it is used as a stabilizer and preservative. It is also used in the production of iodine supplements, as an analytical reagent in chemistry, and in the manufacture of certain pyrotechnics.

In medicine, potassium iodate has been used to treat iodine deficiency disorders. It is also sometimes used in combination with other chemicals as a desiccant. Due to its oxidizing properties, it should be handled with care and stored away from combustible materials. Ingesting large quantities can be harmful.
