Kvantetilknytning, or quantum entanglement, is a phenomenon in quantum mechanics where two or more quantum particles become linked in such a way that they share the same fate, regardless of the distance separating them. This means that measuring a property of one entangled particle instantaneously influences the properties of the other particle(s), even if they are light-years apart. This correlation is stronger than any classical correlation.

The concept of entanglement was famously described by Albert Einstein as "spooky action at a distance" because it appears to violate the principle of locality, which states that an object is influenced only by its immediate surroundings. However, numerous experiments have confirmed the existence and reality of quantum entanglement.

Entanglement is not about faster-than-light communication. While the state of one particle instantaneously affects the other, this effect cannot be used to transmit information faster than the speed of light. This is because the outcome of any measurement on an entangled particle is random, and to interpret the results from the distant particle, classical communication is still required.

In quantum computing, entanglement is a key resource for performing complex calculations that are intractable for classical computers. In quantum cryptography, it can be used to create highly secure communication channels. Quantum teleportation, a process that transfers the quantum state of a particle from one location to another, also relies heavily on entanglement. Despite its counterintuitive nature, quantum entanglement is a fundamental aspect of our universe and a cornerstone of quantum information science.
