koronáriák

Koronáriák refers to the coronary arteries, which are blood vessels that supply oxygen-rich blood to the heart muscle. These arteries originate from the aorta, the main artery carrying blood from the heart to the rest of the body, just after it leaves the left ventricle. The two main coronary arteries are the left main coronary artery and the right coronary artery.

The left main coronary artery quickly branches into the left anterior descending artery and the left circumflex artery. The left anterior descending artery supplies blood to the front and bottom of the left ventricle and the front of the septum. The left circumflex artery supplies blood to the outer wall of the left ventricle and the left atrium. The right coronary artery typically supplies blood to the right atrium, the right ventricle, and the back of the left ventricle in most individuals.

The heart muscle, like all other tissues in the body, requires a constant supply of oxygen and nutrients to function. Coronary arteries play a vital role in ensuring this supply. Blockages or narrowing of the coronary arteries, often due to the buildup of plaque (atherosclerosis), can lead to reduced blood flow to the heart muscle. This condition is known as coronary artery disease and can cause symptoms such as chest pain (angina) or a heart attack (myocardial infarction).
