Konvektsionaalset refers to a method of heat transfer through the movement of fluids, such as liquids or gases. This process involves the transfer of thermal energy from one point to another via the bulk motion of the fluid itself. When a fluid is heated, its density typically decreases, causing it to rise. Cooler, denser fluid then sinks to take its place, creating a continuous circulation or convection current. This circulation facilitates the redistribution of heat throughout the fluid.

Convection is a fundamental mechanism responsible for many natural phenomena. For example, atmospheric convection drives weather patterns, with warm air rising and cooler air descending. Ocean currents are also largely driven by convection, influenced by differences in water temperature and salinity. In everyday life, convection is evident in boiling water, where heated water at the bottom rises and cooler water from the top sinks, creating a rolling motion. Similarly, convection plays a role in heating and cooling systems in buildings, as well as in the operation of radiators and ovens.

There are two main types of convection: natural (or free) convection, which occurs due solely to density differences caused by temperature variations, and forced convection, where external forces, such as a fan or pump, are used to induce fluid movement.
