Kondensorit, often referred to as condensers in English, are essential components in many thermodynamic systems. Their primary function is to facilitate the transfer of heat from a working fluid, typically a gas or vapor, to a cooling medium, causing the working fluid to condense into a liquid. This phase change is crucial for the efficient operation of various cycles, most notably refrigeration and power generation.

In refrigeration systems, the condenser receives hot, high-pressure refrigerant vapor from the compressor. The cooling medium, which can be air or water, flows over the condenser's surfaces, absorbing heat from the refrigerant. As the refrigerant loses heat, it condenses into a high-pressure liquid, ready to be expanded and then evaporated in the cooling coils. Without an effective condenser, the refrigeration cycle cannot effectively remove heat from the cooled space.

In power plants, particularly steam power plants, condensers play a vital role in increasing the efficiency of the steam turbine. Steam exiting the turbine is at a low pressure and temperature. The condenser cools this steam, transforming it back into liquid water (condensate). This creates a significant pressure difference across the turbine, allowing more work to be extracted from the steam. The condensate is then pumped back to the boiler to be reheated, completing the Rankine cycle.

Condenser designs vary widely depending on the application, size, and available cooling media. Common types include air-cooled condensers, which use ambient air, and water-cooled condensers, which utilize water from a river, lake, or cooling tower. The efficiency of a condenser is directly related to its heat transfer surface area and the temperature difference between the working fluid and the cooling medium.
