Kilowattimer is a term used in theoretical discussions of energy accounting to denote the time-integrated power draw of a device. It is not an official unit in the SI system and has no formal standard definition. It appears primarily in thought experiments, educational contexts, or speculative fiction to emphasize how long a system runs at a given power level.

In a simple definition, if a device operates at P kilowatts for t hours, the kilowattimer value would be K = P × t. Numerically, this is the amount of energy consumed, and thus one kilowattimer is conceptually equivalent to one kilowatt-hour. The kilowattimer frame highlights the duration aspect of energy use.

Measurement is not tied to a specialized instrument; kilowattimer is typically calculated by integrating measured power over time using standard monitoring tools. For example, 5 kW for 2 hours yields 10 kilowattimers.

Usage and status: In practice, the term is used mainly as an educational example to illustrate E = P × t, and in some fiction or nonstandard dashboards. It does not replace kilowatt-hour in official energy accounting, tariffs, or most engineering calculations.
