jallouais
Jallouais is a former commune in the Maine-et-Loire department in western France. It was located in the arrondissement of Cholet. The village of Jallouais is situated in the heart of the Choletais region, an area known for its rural landscape and agricultural traditions. Historically, Jallouais was part of the larger province of Anjou. The commune's economy was primarily based on agriculture, with a focus on livestock and crop farming. Like many rural French communities, Jallouais experienced a gradual decline in population over the latter half of the 20th century as people moved to larger urban centers for work and opportunities. The commune had a parish church, which served as a central point for community life. In 2013, Jallouais merged with the neighboring commune of Saint-Christophe-du-Bois to form the new commune of Montigné-les-Rues. This administrative change aimed to consolidate resources and improve the efficiency of local governance. The former territory of Jallouais is now an integral part of Montigné-les-Rues, retaining its rural character and its historical connection to the Choletais region.
