Isopreenoidi, also known as terpenoids or isoprenoids, are a large and diverse class of organic compounds produced by a variety of plants and insects. They are built from repeating units of isoprene, a five-carbon molecule. The basic structural unit is the isoprene unit, which is often referred to as the "building block" of these compounds.

These compounds play crucial roles in nature. In plants, they contribute to scent and flavor, acting as attractants for pollinators or repellents for herbivores. They are also involved in photosynthesis and plant defense mechanisms. For example, the characteristic aroma of pine trees comes from terpenes.
