Interpreton is a theoretical unit used in certain discussions of semantic information theory and philosophy of language. It denotes the smallest indivisible amount of interpretation that a cognitive system can generate in response to a signal within a given contextual framework. The term echoes the particle-like language of physical theories, applying a similar intuition to meaning processing rather than to physical matter.

Conceptually, an interpreton represents a discrete step in the transformation of raw data into meaning. It is not a directly observable object but an abstract measure used in models to compare how different signals or communication protocols yield interpretive content.
