internodid

Internodid is a rarely used term in plant biology, typically employed as an adjective or noun to describe something relating to or located between the nodes of a plant stem. In practice, it might be used to characterize tissues, growth patterns, or anatomical segments found in the internodal region, the portion of the stem between successive nodes.

The word is formed from inter- ('between'), nod- ('node'), and the suffix -id, a common ending in biological terms to indicate a characteristic or relation. As a result, internodid essentially means 'between-nodes related' or 'internodal.'

The term is not common in standard floras or textbooks and tends to appear in specialized glossaries, theoretical discussions of stem architecture, or historical literature on plant morphology. When used, it usually denotes the internodal region or properties specific to that region. For example: internodid elongation may refer to elongation processes that occur in the segment between nodes, as distinct from nodal elongation.
