Inoszilikátokba is a Hungarian term that translates to "inosilicates" in English. Inosilates are a subclass of silicate minerals. Silicates are a large and important group of minerals composed of silicon and oxygen, with the basic unit of the silica tetrahedron (SiO4). In inosilicates, these silica tetrahedra are linked together to form chains. There are two main types of inosilicates based on the structure of these chains: single-chain inosilicates and double-chain inosilicates.

Single-chain inosilicates, also known as pyroxenes, have their silica tetrahedra joined in a continuous, single-strand chain. The basic structural formula for pyroxenes is XY(Si,Al)2O6, where X and Y are cations. Common examples include augite and enstatite. These minerals are typically found in igneous and metamorphic rocks, particularly in mafic and ultramafic environments.

Double-chain inosilicates, known as amphiboles, have their silica tetrahedra linked in double-strand chains. These double chains are formed by the sharing of oxygen atoms between two single chains. The general formula for amphiboles is complex, often involving hydroxyl (OH) or fluoride (F) groups, and is roughly A(0-1)B2C5T8O22(OH,F)2, where A, B, and C are various cations and T is silicon or aluminum. Common amphiboles include hornblende and tremolite. Amphiboles are also common in igneous and metamorphic rocks, often forming under slightly different conditions than pyroxenes. The presence of hydroxyl groups makes amphiboles susceptible to dehydration.
