Idealismi is a philosophical concept that emphasizes the primacy of ideas or consciousness in understanding reality. In idealism, the world is fundamentally mental or spiritual, rather than material. This means that what we perceive as physical objects and phenomena are, in fact, manifestations of mind or spirit. There are various forms of idealism, each with its own nuances. Subjective idealism, for instance, posits that reality is dependent on the perceiving mind, suggesting that "to be is to be perceived." Objective idealism, on the other hand, proposes a universal mind or spirit that exists independently of individual consciousness, and that individual minds are part of this larger reality. Transcendental idealism, famously associated with Immanuel Kant, argues that while a reality independent of our minds may exist (the noumenal world), we can only know the world as it appears to us through our senses and the structures of our understanding (the phenomenal world). Idealism contrasts with materialism, which holds that matter is the fundamental substance in nature and that all phenomena, including mental states, are results of material interactions. The core tenet remains that ideas, consciousness, or spirit are the ultimate foundation of existence and knowledge, influencing how we interpret the world and our place within it.
