Høygradientmagnetisk refers to a type of magnetic separation technology. It utilizes a high-gradient magnetic field to capture paramagnetic and ferromagnetic particles from a fluid stream. The process involves passing a liquid or gas containing suspended particles through a series of magnetic elements. These elements are designed to create areas of very strong magnetic field gradients, meaning the magnetic field strength changes rapidly over a short distance.

When paramagnetic or ferromagnetic particles enter these high-gradient zones, they experience a strong attractive force towards the magnetic elements. This force is significantly amplified by the steep magnetic field gradient. The non-magnetic components of the fluid flow through unaffected, while the magnetic particles are captured. The captured particles can then be removed from the magnetic elements by stopping the magnetic field and washing the elements, or by other mechanical means.

This technology finds applications in various industries, including mineral processing for the separation of valuable ores from waste rock, water treatment for removing magnetic contaminants, and in the pharmaceutical and food industries for purification processes. The effectiveness of high-gradient magnetic separation depends on the magnetic properties of the particles to be separated, the flow rate of the fluid, and the design of the magnetic separator. It is particularly useful for separating weakly magnetic materials that might not be effectively separated by lower-gradient magnetic fields.
