Hyperspektraaliset refers to hyperspectral imaging, a technique that captures and processes information across the electromagnetic spectrum. Unlike traditional cameras that capture images in a few broad spectral bands (like red, green, and blue), hyperspectral imagers collect data in hundreds of narrow, contiguous spectral bands. This allows for a much more detailed analysis of the spectral signature of an object or scene.

The data collected forms a "hyperspectral cube," where two dimensions represent spatial information (width and height) and the third dimension represents spectral information (wavelength). Each pixel in the image contains a full spectrum, revealing the unique chemical and physical properties of the material at that point.

Hyperspectral imaging has numerous applications across various fields. In remote sensing, it is used for environmental monitoring, identifying vegetation types, detecting pollution, and mapping mineral resources. In agriculture, it helps assess crop health, detect diseases, and optimize irrigation. In defense and security, it can be used for target detection and identification. Furthermore, it finds use in food inspection for quality control, in medicine for disease diagnosis, and in art conservation for analyzing pigments and layers of paintings.
