Hornlar is the term used in several Turkic languages to refer to horns, the permanent projections from the heads of many animals. It is encountered in zoology, anatomy, and cultural discussions where horn materials or shapes are relevant.

In most mammals, true horns consist of a bony core surrounded by a keratinous sheath that grows throughout life. Horns are usually permanent and continue growing, whereas antlers—found in deer and related species—are made of bone and shed annually.

True horns occur primarily in the Bovidae family, including cattle, goats, sheep, and antelopes. They are typically unbranched, though some species display branches near the tip. Rhinoceros horns are made of keratin and lack a bone core, and are not considered true horns.

Horns serve several functions, including defense, competition for mates, and social signaling. In some species they also aid in digging or foraging.

Humans have long used horn materials for tools, ornaments, and traditional medicine. Today, conservation and wildlife trade regulations aim to curb poaching and protect horn-bearing species.
