Histogram analysis refers to the examination of data distributions using histograms, graphical representations that display the frequency or density of data values falling into a set of consecutive intervals, called bins. Constructing a histogram involves choosing bin boundaries and counting how many observations fall into each bin. Limitations include sensitivity to binning, sample size dependence, and potential misinterpretation of shapes caused by sparse data or outliers. It is commonly complemented by quantitative measures (skewness, kurtosis) and by kernel density estimates, quantile plots, or goodness-of-fit tests.
