Halmazállapotából refers to the state of matter of a substance. Matter exists in several fundamental states, primarily solid, liquid, and gas. Each state is characterized by distinct physical properties relating to the arrangement and movement of its constituent particles.

In the solid state, particles are tightly packed in a fixed, ordered arrangement. They vibrate about their fixed positions but do not move past each other. Solids possess a definite shape and volume. Examples include ice, rock, and metal.

The liquid state features particles that are close together but can move past one another. Liquids have a definite volume but take the shape of their container. Their particles possess more kinetic energy than in solids, allowing for flow. Water, oil, and mercury are common examples of liquids.

In the gaseous state, particles are far apart and move randomly at high speeds. Gases have no definite shape or volume, expanding to fill any container they occupy. Their particles have high kinetic energy, leading to frequent collisions. Air, steam, and helium are examples of gases.

Beyond these three common states, other phases of matter exist, such as plasma, which is an ionized gas, and Bose-Einstein condensates, which occur at extremely low temperatures. The transition between these states, known as a phase transition, is driven by changes in temperature and pressure, which affect the kinetic energy and intermolecular forces of the particles.
