Hajtókarhoz is a Hungarian term that translates to "connecting rod" in English. It refers to a crucial mechanical component found in many types of engines, most notably internal combustion engines. The primary function of a hajtókar is to convert the linear, reciprocating motion of a piston into the rotational motion of a crankshaft.

The hajtókar is typically a rigid, rod-shaped component. One end, known as the small end, is connected to the piston via a wrist pin. The other end, called the big end, is attached to a crankpin on the crankshaft. As the piston moves up and down within the cylinder, the hajtókar acts as a lever arm, transferring this force to the rotating crankshaft.
