Gázfúrási refers to the process of drilling for natural gas. This involves the extraction of a combustible mixture of hydrocarbons, primarily methane, from underground geological formations. The drilling process itself is complex and requires specialized equipment and techniques to safely and efficiently access these reserves. Geologists and engineers work together to identify potential gas-bearing reservoirs, which are often found deep beneath the Earth's surface.

Once a suitable location is identified, a well is drilled using a rotary drill bit that grinds through rock. Casing is then inserted into the wellbore to prevent collapse and isolate different geological layers. Once the target depth is reached and the gas-bearing formation is penetrated, the well is completed to allow for the controlled flow of natural gas to the surface. This can involve hydraulic fracturing, commonly known as fracking, where a high-pressure mixture of water, sand, and chemicals is injected into the rock to create or enlarge fractures, thereby increasing permeability and gas flow.

The extracted natural gas is then processed to remove impurities and transported through pipelines to consumers for heating, electricity generation, and industrial uses. The exploration and extraction of natural gas are significant global industries, impacting energy markets and environmental considerations.
