glykosyyliryhmän
Glykosyyliryhmä refers to a monosaccharide unit that has been attached to another molecule, typically via a glycosidic bond. This attachment occurs when the anomeric carbon of the monosaccharide reacts with a hydroxyl group or other functional group on the acceptor molecule. The resulting structure is a glycoside, and the monosaccharide portion is then referred to as the glykosyyliryhmä.
Glykosyyliryhmät are fundamental building blocks in the formation of carbohydrates such as disaccharides, oligosaccharides, and polysaccharides.
Beyond carbohydrate chemistry, glykosyyliryhmät are also found in a vast array of biological molecules, including glycoproteins,
