It is one of the most well-known and economically significant locust species due to its ability to form large, destructive swarms. Native to Africa, Asia, and Australia, it is found in a wide range of habitats, including grasslands, savannas, and agricultural areas.

The life cycle of the geenilokusta involves two main phases: a solitary phase and a gregarious phase. In the solitary phase, individuals live independently and exhibit different physical characteristics and behaviors.
