In physics and radiation detection, gamma response describes a detector’s response to incident gamma photons. Key aspects include energy resolution, efficiency, and the shape of the energy spectrum. Detectors such as scintillators (for example, NaI(Tl) or CsI) and semiconductor devices (like high-purity germanium) produce signals that are analyzed to determine the energy and sometimes the origin of the gamma rays. These oscillations, detected by EEG or MEG, are linked to cognitive processes such as attention, perception, and memory, and can appear as transient bursts or sustained rhythms.
