fanilor
Fanilor is a small border commune located in the western part of Romania, within the administrative boundaries of Alba County. It lies in the foothills of the Apuseni Mountains, approximately 30 kilometres north of the town of Alba Iulia, and is situated along the course of the upper Târnava river. The commune is composed of two villages, Fanilor and Mărieș, and covers an area of roughly 22 square kilometres.
The name Fanilor is believed to derive from the Latin word farine, reflecting the region’s long history
