fagocytaarista
Fagocytaarista, also known as phagocytosis, is a fundamental process in the immune system where certain cells, known as phagocytes, engulf and digest foreign particles, such as bacteria, viruses, or cellular debris. This process is crucial for maintaining homeostasis and protecting the body from pathogens. Phagocytes, including macrophages and neutrophils, recognize and bind to foreign substances through receptors on their cell surface. Once bound, the phagocyte extends pseudopodia, which surround and engulf the foreign particle, forming a phagosome. The phagosome then fuses with lysosomes, creating a phagolysosome where enzymes break down the engulfed material. The digested components are then recycled or excreted by the cell. Phagocytosis is a vital defense mechanism that helps prevent infections and inflammation.
