Entèrics is a Catalan term meaning enteric, used to describe things relating to the intestine. In English, the corresponding adjective is enteric. The term appears in medical, biological, and pharmacological contexts.

Anatomy and physiology: The enteric system or enteric nervous system (ENS) is a large network of neurons embedded in the walls of the gastrointestinal tract, extending from esophagus to anus. It governs peristalsis, secretion, and blood flow, and can operate with limited central nervous system input.

Microbiology: Enteric bacteria inhabit the intestinal tract, including members of the family Enterobacteriaceae such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella, and Klebsiella. They participate in digestion and immune modulation but can cause disease when displaced or pathogenic.

Pharmacology and clinical use: Enteric coatings on oral medications resist gastric acid and dissolve in the intestine, enabling targeted release. Enteric infections, enteritis, and dysbiosis describe disease states involving the gut respectively.
