Elszérol is a former administrative unit in Hungary, specifically a területi elszámolású városi jogállású település (urban settlement with area-based accounting) in the Pest-Pilis-Solt-Vétek County.

The town of Elszérol was formed in 1979 from the volgyegyháza, Papildь and Vidéki villages, as part of a Hungarian government policy to restructure and simplify the country's administrative divisions. At the time of its creation, the town had a total area of 81.5 square kilometers and a population of around 1,442 residents.

In 1983, the Hungarian government introduced a new system to classify administrative units, and Elszérol was classified as a területi elszámolású városi jogállású település, which is a type of urban settlement with area-based accounting.

Under this system, the town of Elszérol was considered a separately managed unit with its own budget and administrative functions, but remained part of the larger Pest-Pilis-Solt-Vétek County. This arrangement was meant to simplify administrative tasks and promote regional development.

The exact status and function of Elszérol as an administrative unit remains somewhat unclear today. With the subsequent administrative reforms in Hungary in the 1990s and 2000s, the town's status was largely subsumed under the Köztársaság útja settlement.
