elektronmõjul

Elektronmõjul is an Estonian term used in physics to denote phenomena that arise when electrons interact with matter or are present in a system. The phrase literally means "under electron influence" or "by electron impact." It is used as a broad descriptor for effects caused by electron irradiation or electron currents.

Scope and mechanisms: Interactions encompassed by elektronmõjul include elastic and inelastic scattering, excitation and ionization of atoms or molecules, and emission of secondary electrons. In solids, electron irradiation can modify electronic structure, create defects, or induce charging effects. In vacuum systems and devices, electron flux can influence surface chemistry and material properties.

In radiation physics, electron impact is a primary ionization mechanism in detectors and mass spectrometers.
