Donorgrupp, also known as blood type, is a classification system used to determine the compatibility of blood between donors and recipients. The system is based on the presence or absence of specific antigens on the surface of red blood cells. The most common classification system is the ABO system, which includes four main blood types: A, B, AB, and O. Type A blood has A antigens on the red blood cells and B antibodies in the plasma, while type B blood has B antigens and A antibodies. Type AB blood has both A and B antigens but no antibodies, and type O blood has neither A nor B antigens but both A and B antibodies.

In addition to the ABO system, there is the Rh system, which is based on the presence or absence of the Rh (D) antigen. Individuals can be Rh positive (Rh+) or Rh negative (Rh-). The combination of ABO and Rh systems results in eight possible blood types: A+, A-, B+, B-, AB+, AB-, O+, and O-.

Blood type compatibility is crucial in transfusions and organ transplants. For example, a person with type A blood can receive blood from donors with type A or O blood, but not from donors with type B or AB blood. Similarly, a person with type O blood can receive blood from donors with type O blood only. Understanding blood type compatibility helps ensure safe and effective medical interventions.
