dammestrømmen

Dammestrømmen is a hydroelectric power station located on the Røssåga river in Nordland county, Norway. It is part of the Røssåga hydroelectric power system, which is one of Norway's largest power production facilities. The Dammestrømmen power station primarily utilizes the water flow from the Røssåga reservoir, which is regulated by the nearby Røssåga dam.

The power station itself consists of two Pelton turbines, each with a capacity of 75 MW, for a total installed capacity of 150 MW. The net head of the water is approximately 270 meters. Dammestrømmen generates an average annual energy output of around 800 GWh. The electricity produced is fed into the Norwegian national grid.

Construction of the Dammestrømmen power station began in the late 1950s and it was completed and commissioned in 1961. The project was undertaken by Statkraft, Norway's state-owned energy company, as part of the broader development of the Røssåga river's hydroelectric potential. The Røssåga system as a whole has undergone several upgrades and expansions over the years to optimize energy production and ensure reliable supply. Dammestrømmen plays a significant role in providing renewable energy to the region and contributes to Norway's extensive hydroelectric power network.
