Circulatório refers to the system responsible for the circulation of fluids within an organism. In most animals, this fluid is blood, and the system is known as the circulatory system. This vital biological network is composed of the heart, blood vessels, and blood. The heart acts as a pump, propelling blood throughout the body. Blood vessels, which include arteries, veins, and capillaries, form a network that carries blood to and from all tissues and organs. Arteries typically transport oxygenated blood away from the heart, while veins return deoxygenated blood to the heart. Capillaries are tiny vessels where the exchange of oxygen, nutrients, and waste products occurs between the blood and the body's cells.

The primary function of the circulatory system is to transport oxygen from the lungs to the body's tissues and to remove carbon dioxide, a waste product, from those tissues and transport it back to the lungs for exhalation. It also plays a crucial role in distributing nutrients absorbed from the digestive system, hormones produced by endocrine glands, and essential immune cells to all parts of the body. Furthermore, the circulatory system helps regulate body temperature by distributing heat and plays a role in removing metabolic waste products from cells to be processed by organs like the kidneys. In some simpler organisms, a less complex system may exist for fluid transport, but the term "circulatório" most commonly describes the intricate and essential blood circulation found in vertebrates and many invertebrates.
