Centerboardtyp is a term used in nautical design to describe the type of centerboard fitted to a sailing vessel. A centerboard is a retractable underwater foil or fin that provides lateral resistance to reduce leeway and improve upwind performance, while allowing the hull to operate in shallower water when retracted. The centerboardtyp describes the mechanism and geometry by which the board can be deployed or stowed.

Common categories include lift (retractable) centerboards, daggerboards, swing (or swing-keel) centerboards, and fixed centerboards. Lift centerboards move vertically within a trunk in the hull and can be locked at different depths. Daggerboards slide vertically in a trunk but are not hinged to the hull; they are typically raised and lowered by lines or winches and are common on dinghies and some multihulls. Swing centerboards are hinged at the leading edge and can swing up or down, sometimes primarily used to reduce draft when retracted. Fixed centerboards are non-retractable and provide permanent draft and stability, used when variable draft is not necessary.

Materials vary, including wood, aluminum, fiberglass composites, or steel, chosen for strength and weight. The choice of centerboardtyp affects draft, righting moment, balance, ease of maintenance, and hull design.
