Cementációk is a Hungarian term referring to processes of cementation. In a general sense, cementation describes the process where a substance is bound together by an intervening medium, the cement. This can occur in various contexts, including geology and metallurgy.

In geology, cementation is a diagenetic process where newly formed minerals precipitate from pore water and fill the spaces between sediment grains, effectively binding them into a coherent rock. Common cementing agents include calcite, silica, and iron oxides. This process is crucial in the formation of sedimentary rocks like sandstone and conglomerate.

In metallurgy and materials science, cementation, also known as case hardening or diffusion hardening, is a heat treatment process used to harden the surface of steel. It involves diffusing carbon atoms into the surface of a low-carbon steel part that has been heated in a carbon-rich environment. This creates a hard, wear-resistant surface layer while the core of the material remains relatively ductile. Other elements, such as nitrogen (nitriding) or boron, can also be diffused into the surface in similar processes. The specific cementation method and the elements used depend on the desired properties of the treated material.
