Case 30, also known as COVID-19 Case 30, is the initial confirmed case of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the Republic of Korea. The case was confirmed on January 20, 2020, and marked the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

The individual, a 55-year-old Chinese man, had arrived in South Korea on January 19, 2020, from Wuhan, China, where the first cases of the virus were reported. He had been experiencing symptoms of pneumonia and was admitted to a hospital in the city of Daegu. A test for COVID-19 was conducted and, on January 20, 2020, the Ministry of Health and Welfare of the Republic of Korea announced that the test results were positive.

Subsequent contact tracing revealed that several individuals, including healthcare workers and family members, had come into contact with the patient. These individuals were subsequently tested and, in some cases, also tested positive for the virus. The incident highlighted the need for strict measures to prevent the spread of the virus in the country.

Case 30 led to a significant increase in the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Republic of Korea, and the government implemented various measures to contain the spread of the virus, including enhanced screening at airports and quarantining individuals who had come into contact with confirmed cases. The incident served as a catalyst for the country's public health response to the pandemic, and imported cases, such as Case 30, continued to play a significant role in the spread of the virus in the country.
