Brontë refers to the Brontë family, a prominent English literary lineage from Haworth, West Yorkshire. The siblings Charlotte (1816–1855), Emily (1818–1848), Anne (1820–1849), and their brother Branwell (1817–1848) were the children of Patrick Brontë, a clergyman, and Maria Branwell Brontë. After the death of their mother and the early loss of other relatives, the four siblings cultivated a substantial body of poetry and prose at the family parsonage. They published using male pen names: Charlotte as Currer Bell, Emily as Ellis Bell, and Anne as Acton Bell.
