balminta

Balminta is a suburb located on the eastern shore of Balm Street, which is a finger inlet off the western extremity of the northernmost part of Port Phillip Bay in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is situated approximately 10 kilometers south-east from Melbourne's central business district and forms part of the local government area of Bayside City.

The area is characterized by a high concentration of waterfront properties and historical architecture, with many of the homes dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In response to the significant development and changing population dynamics in the local area, Balminta has experienced an extension of its residential zone boundaries.

In recent years, developers have been actively involved in proposals for urban renewal and regeneration of the area, seeking to accommodate the expansion of residential developments within the local area. These proposals have primarily focused on high-density residential projects that would increase the population density of the suburb.

As a result, the face of the area is undergoing significant change. Many of the existing homes are being either upgraded or increased in height to accommodate multiple-level living; and large lots are being re-zoned to accommodate small-scale commercial developments, multi-occupancy units or makeshift inner-city workers quarters.

Balminta's most notable geographical features include its pavement and romantic stretches of coastlines with limestone formations and ancient Territorial line on rocks.
