Autotehnikul was a Romanian automaker, founded in 1989, based in Mediaș, a city located in Transylvania, Romania. The company aimed to produce high-quality vehicles, focusing on the popular 4x4 off-road models. Initially, Autotehnikul revolved around the conversion of the Romanian city's model of the Debica 4x4, a Polish-designed off-road vehicle. These modifications involved design updates, improved engine performance, and enhanced all-wheel drive capabilities.

Autotehnikul hoped to become a significant player in the world market by offering off-road vehicles with enhanced performance and reliability, at a relatively low cost. To achieve this goal, they implemented design revisions and used locally sourced and after-sales Polish vehicle components. This strategy brought forth modern engineering contributions without increasing costs for consumers.

During its active period, the company recorded a total production of only a few dozen vehicles, which sold primarily within Romania. Despite its ambitions, it did not achieve the necessary market presence and struggled financially until its closure. Unfortunately, financial constraints have been attributed to its short life.
