Arlit is a commune and city in northern Niger, located in the Aïr Mountains. It is the administrative center of the Arlit Department. The city gained prominence in the mid-20th century due to the discovery of significant uranium deposits in the surrounding area. This led to the establishment of large-scale mining operations, primarily by French companies, making Arlit a key hub for uranium extraction.
