A paraphilia only becomes a disorder when it meets the criteria for distress, impairment, or harm.

The causes of anománia are not fully understood, but it is believed to be a complex interplay of biological, psychological, and social factors. Theories suggest that early life experiences, hormonal influences, and learned behaviors may contribute to the development of these conditions. Treatment for anománia typically involves psychotherapy, often cognitive-behavioral therapy, to help individuals manage their urges, develop healthier coping mechanisms, and address any underlying psychological issues. In some cases, medication may also be used to help reduce sexual drive or manage co-occurring mental health conditions.
