Analiticidade is a concept often encountered in fields such as mathematics, physics, and computer science, referring to a property of functions or objects. In essence, an analytic function is one that can be locally represented by a convergent power series. This means that in a neighborhood around any given point, the function can be expressed as an infinite sum of terms involving powers of the distance from that point.

This property has significant implications. Analytic functions are exceptionally "smooth" and well-behaved. They are infinitely differentiable, and all of their derivatives at a point uniquely determine the function in a neighborhood of that point. This means that if two analytic functions agree on a small interval, they must agree everywhere. This powerful characteristic is known as the identity theorem.

In complex analysis, the concept of analyticity is central. A complex function is analytic if it is differentiable in the complex sense in an open set. This differentiability implies a very strong structure on the function, linking its real and imaginary parts through the Cauchy-Riemann equations.

The opposite of an analytic function is often termed "synthetic" or "non-analytic," which refers to functions that cannot be represented by such power series. While many functions encountered in basic calculus are analytic, there are important classes of functions, such as some solutions to differential equations or certain types of wave functions in quantum mechanics, that may not possess this property. Understanding analyticity is crucial for advanced mathematical analysis and its applications.
