alignés

Alignés is the plural masculine form of the French adjective aligné, and the past participle of the verb aligner. It is used to describe things that have been placed in a line or share a common line. The feminine forms are alignée and alignées.

In archaeology, alignés is often used to refer to megalithic monuments arranged in straight rows. The term appears in the expression alignements, describing such rows of stones. The best known example is the alignments of Carnac in Brittany, France, widely described as one of the most extensive Neolithic megalithic sites in the world, consisting of rows of standing stones dating to the late Neolithic.

In geometry and cartography, alignés describes points that lie on the same straight line (collinear). For example, "trois points alignés" indicates collinearity.

In general language, alignés can describe objects or features arranged along a line, such as "meubles alignés le long du mur" or "les poteaux alignés," as well as people positioned in a line.
