aldrosidic
Aldrosidic is a term used in organic chemistry to describe a glycoside where the anomeric carbon is linked to an aldehyde group. Glycosides are compounds formed by the reaction of an alcohol with a hemiacetal or hemiketal, resulting in the formation of a glycosidic bond. In an aldrosidic linkage, this bond connects the anomeric carbon of a carbohydrate to an oxygen atom of an aldehyde. This is in contrast to a ketosidic linkage, where the anomeric carbon is linked to a ketone.
The anomeric carbon is the carbon atom in a cyclic carbohydrate molecule that was the carbonyl carbon
Aldrosides are prevalent in nature, forming the structural basis of many polysaccharides and complex carbohydrates. For
