Alaonttolaskimoon is the Finnish illative form of alaonttolaskimo, meaning "into the inferior vena cava." The inferior vena cava (IVC) is the large vein that returns deoxygenated blood from the lower limbs, pelvis and abdomen to the right atrium of the heart. Formed by the union of the common iliac veins near the level of the fifth lumbar vertebra, the IVC ascends retroperitoneally to the right of the abdominal aorta and passes through the diaphragm at the caval opening (approximately the level of T8).
