akkomodációs
Akkomodációs is a term used in psychology and education to describe the process of adapting one's existing mental frameworks or schemas to accommodate new information that does not fit. This concept is a core component of Jean Piaget's theory of cognitive development. When an individual encounters new experiences or data that are inconsistent with their current understanding of the world, they may engage in accommodation. This involves modifying their existing cognitive structures or creating new ones to integrate the novel information. For instance, a child who has a schema for "dog" might initially see a cat and try to fit it into that schema. When they realize the cat has different characteristics, they might accommodate by creating a new schema for "cat" or by modifying their "dog" schema to be more general. Accommodation, alongside assimilation, where new information is incorporated into existing schemas without significant change, explains how individuals learn and develop more complex cognitive abilities over time. The balance between these two processes is crucial for cognitive growth.
