abundansseina

Abundansseina is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Absintiidae, which is part of the clade Neomphaliones. This genus was described by Thiele in 1929.

The name Abundansseina comes from Latin, "abundans" meaning abundant and "seina" meaning shell. Until the mid-20th century, this genus was considered to be part of the family Trochidae, but the previously assumed close relationship to this family has been disputed due to various phylogenetic studies.

Species in this genus are predominantly found in tropical regions of the Indo-Pacific area. Abundansseina shells are right-handed, solid, or tubular, and usually exhibit features such as inflated spires, significant fleshy parts above the aperture, and sometimes, the shells display thinly notched or edge-acuminating rim or fleshy appendages near the outer margin or base of the mantle edge within the rim.
