Védgáz
Védgáz is a term used in welding to describe a gas or mixture of gases used to shield the molten weld pool from atmospheric contamination. This contamination can weaken the weld and lead to defects. Common védgáz gases include argon, helium, carbon dioxide, and oxygen, often used in specific combinations depending on the type of welding and the metals being joined. For example, in gas metal arc welding (GMAW), also known as MIG welding, argon is frequently used for aluminum and its alloys, while a mix of argon and carbon dioxide is common for steel. In gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), or TIG welding, argon is the standard choice for most metals. The protection provided by védgáz is crucial for achieving strong, high-quality welds. It prevents oxidation, nitrogen absorption, and hydrogen embrittlement, all of which can compromise the integrity of the weld joint. The selection of the appropriate védgáz is a critical parameter in welding procedure specifications.
