Värvitemperatuuri

Värvitemperatuur is a concept used to describe the color of light emitted by a light source. It is measured in Kelvin (K) and is often used in photography, videography, and lighting design. The color temperature of a light source indicates how warm or cool the light appears.

A low color temperature, typically around 2000K to 3000K, results in a warm, yellowish light, similar to that of an incandescent bulb or candlelight. This type of light is often considered cozy and relaxing. As the color temperature increases, the light becomes progressively cooler and more bluish.

Daylight, for instance, has a color temperature of around 5000K to 6500K, appearing as a neutral white light. Higher color temperatures, above 7000K, produce a distinctly bluish light, which can feel energizing or sterile depending on the context.

When shooting photos or videos, understanding color temperature is crucial for achieving accurate white balance, ensuring that white objects appear white in the final image and that colors are rendered faithfully. Different light sources have different color temperatures, and cameras need to be adjusted to compensate for these variations. For example, a photographer might set their camera to "daylight" white balance when shooting outdoors, or "tungsten" when shooting indoors under incandescent lights. This adjustment helps the camera interpret the colors correctly.
