Conduction is the transfer of heat through direct contact between particles. In solids, this involves vibrations of atoms and molecules passing energy along. In liquids and gases, it's a less efficient process, involving collisions between molecules.

Convection is the transfer of heat through the movement of fluids (liquids or gases). When a fluid is heated, it becomes less dense and rises, while cooler, denser fluid sinks, creating a circulating current. This is how weather patterns form and how many heating systems work.

Radiation is the transfer of heat through electromagnetic waves, such as infrared radiation. Unlike conduction and convection, radiation does not require a medium and can travel through a vacuum. The sun's heat reaching Earth is a prime example of radiative heat transfer.
