Vádlottnak

Vádlottnak is a Hungarian legal term that translates to "accused" or "defendant" in English. It refers to a person who has been formally charged with committing a crime and is therefore subject to legal proceedings. The term is used throughout the Hungarian criminal justice system, from the initial investigation stages to the trial and sentencing.

In Hungary, an individual becomes a vádlott when the public prosecutor's office (ügyészség) files an indictment (vádirat) with the court. Prior to this stage, the person is typically referred to as a gyanúsított (suspect). Once an indictment is filed, the vádlott is officially recognized as a party to the criminal proceedings and is entitled to certain legal rights. These rights include the right to legal representation, the right to be informed of the charges against them, and the right to present a defense.

The vádlott is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The burden of proof lies with the prosecution. Throughout the trial, the vádlott has the opportunity to respond to the charges, present evidence, and call witnesses. The court will then consider all evidence and arguments before reaching a verdict. If found guilty, the vádlott will be sentenced according to Hungarian law.
