Voltstyrka is a Swedish term that translates to "voltage" in English. It is a fundamental concept in electricity that quantifies the electric potential difference between two points. In simpler terms, it represents the "push" or "pressure" that drives electric current through a circuit.

The unit of voltstyrka is the volt, symbolized by the letter V. This unit is named after Alessandro Volta, an Italian physicist who invented the voltaic pile, the first chemical battery. Voltstyrka is analogous to pressure in a water system, where higher pressure leads to a greater flow of water. Similarly, a higher voltstyrka will drive more current through a conductor, assuming resistance remains constant.
